Our vision is to serve as the premiere leader in urban healthcare to diverse populations. The mission of Whittier Street Health Center is to provide high quality, reliable and accessible primary health care and support services for diverse populations to promote wellness and eliminate health and social disparities.

Whittier Street Health Center is a federally Section 330 funded and Joint Commission accredited urban community health center providing primary health care and outreach services primarily to nearly 12,000 individuals from culturally and circumstantially diverse communities.

Since its early beginnings as a well-baby clinic in 1932, Whittier has served as a safety net for the physical well being of the neighborhoods of Boston. With an array of 30 health programs, Whittier's services are designed to meet the primary care, behavioral health, dental care, and vision-related needs of the community. As a trusted entity with a high degree of community visibility, a multicultural and multilingual staff, and long-standing collaborations, Whittier is not only representative of the community it serves, it is a vital part of the community it serves.

Our daily charge is to provide high quality, culturally competent primary health care and social services to improve the overall health of the community, and to ensure that every resident has access to health care regardless of the ability to pay. Although Whittier is physically located in Lower Roxbury, our patient base includes significant numbers of individuals from Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, the South End and Greater Boston.

With 125 employees and a 30,000 square foot patient-friendly facility located in Renaissance Park at Northeastern University, Whittier is accessible by car and public transportation. Whittier provided nearly 38,000 patient visits. We also served an additional 20,000 local residents via outreach, health education and promotion activities.

We are prepared to meet rapidly changing community needs for diverse populations, while building a strong financial base for the services we provide.
