On April 10, 2007, Whittier Street Health Center hosted its 13th Roast to benefit the health center. The Roast, an annual event for Whittier, raises funds to benefit the Center and our commitment to providing high quality, reliable and accessible primary health care and support services for diverse populations to promote wellness and eliminate health and social disparities.
This year we honored Bob Mahoney, Executive Vice Chairman of Citizens Financial Group, who said “I am honored to lend my name and support to an evening of cheers and jeers in order to benefit Whittier Street Health Center.” He continued, “I look forward to the jokes, but more importantly I look forward to helping to raise much needed funding to support the serious work that is done every day by this wonderful community resource. Under the leadership of its President and CEO, Frederica Williams, Whittier Street Health Center provides high-quality, reliable and accessible health care support and services to those among us who need the most help.”
Whittier Street Health Center’s 2007 Roast raised more than $455,000 to support the health center. The goal for the 2008 Roast is to raise $500,000. Past Roastees include Thomas P. O’Neill, Ted Kelly, Paul LaCamera, William Van Faasen, Ralph Martin, Marvin Gilmore, Diddy Cullinane, Mayor Thomas Menino, Wayne Budd, Senator John Kerry, Fletcher “Flash” Wiley, and Paul Parks, Sr.
