National Foot Health Awareness Month: Step Toward Better Foot Care

April is National Foot Health Awareness Month – a timely reminder to give your feet the attention they deserve to keep you moving comfortably all year long.

Our feet perform an extraordinary amount of work every day, from maintaining balance to supporting the full weight of the body. With twenty-six bones connected by thirty-three joints, feet account for approximately one quarter of the body’s bones. Yet, foot problems, although prevalent, are often overlooked and under addressed – sometimes going untreated until they limit quality of life.

Foot pain can stem from pre-existing health conditions and other factors, including:

Left untreated, foot pain can lead to more serious complications, such as mobility issues, chronic discomfort, and gait changes that may impact other parts of the body.

With the right care, foot issues are highly preventable and treatable. At Whittier Street Health Center, our Podiatry clinic offers a range of services for acute and chronic foot health issues. We can also make referrals to physical therapy and preventive care. To schedule an appointment, call 617 868 2433 or 617 989 3002.
