National Hispanic Heritage Month

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! From September 15th to October 15th, this annual observance pays tribute to the culture and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans across society. The 2025 Hispanic Heritage Month theme, “Collective Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future,” invites us to recognize the strength found in shared history and the promise carried forward by new generations.

Hispanic and Latinx communities have long been integral to the social, cultural, and economic fabric of the United States. Their influence is felt in every corner of society, from shaping public policy and advancing scientific innovation, to enriching the arts and driving entrepreneurship. Rooted in a deep sense of community, family, and tradition, Hispanic and Latinx cultures bring unique perspectives that foster creativity, resilience, and collaboration.

Whether through language, cuisine, or music, Hispanic and Latinx people continue to shape the American experience in powerful and lasting ways. Their contributions have helped build more inclusive institutions, advocate for equity, and inspire movements for justice and representation.  In the realm of health and healthcare equity, Hispanic and Latinx leaders have advanced research, improved access to culturally competent care, and championed policies that reflect the needs and strengths of their communities.

At Whittier Street Health Center, we are proud to serve a diverse community and acknowledge that culture is central to health and well-being. We honor the resilience, contributions, and achievements of Hispanic and Latinx individuals while reaffirming our commitment to health equity and access to care for all. We look forward to continuing our celebration of Hispanic heritage, culture, and contributions at our Hispanic Heritage Month Event on October 10th from 12 – 2 PM!
