Thanksgiving is a time of gathering, gratitude, and community. For too many households, however, food and income insecurity prevent access to a full holiday meal. Through our Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway, Whittier Street Health Center strives to ease that burden and ensure families in our community can enjoy a warm, nourishing holiday together.
By distributing free turkeys to our patients in need, we reaffirm our commitment to addressing the social determinants of health, recognizing that consistent access to nutritious food is foundational to overall well-being. Beyond providing a holiday meal, this event strengthens connections within our community, creating opportunities to share health resources and highlight Whittier’s nutrition programs, including our Food Pantry, Community Garden, and on-site teaching kitchen, where families can learn practical skills for cooking and eating well year-round.
This year’s Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway will take place on November 19th and 20th from 1 PM-7 PM, with pick-up outside our Health Center at 1290 Tremont St, Roxbury, MA 02120. We kindly ask Whittier patients to call in advance to register for a turkey pick-up. Please note that there is a limit of one turkey per household. Supplies are limited, so be sure to register early!
