2023 Men’s Health Summit at Whittier Street Health Center | UNITED for Men’s Health: Grounded in Equity

At Whittier Street Health Center, we are passionate about and work hard towards improving the quality of life for every person we serve, and if they don’t come to us, we will travel to meet them where they are in our community. Health equity is a pillar of our health center’s mission and values. That’s why, for this year’s Men’s Health Summit we wanted to highlight the gaps in men’s health and address preventable causes that contribute to increasing morbidity and mortality rates.

On Saturday June 24th, 2023, Whittier hosted its annual Men’s Health Summit. We believe there is no greater gift than that of good health! Every day, Whittier is raising awareness about health disparities that affect boys and men of color. By raising these issues and having a dialogue we aim to ensure that all men achieve better health outcomes.

The theme for this year’s summit was: UNITED for Men’s Health: Grounded in Equity. Our Men’s Health Program was launched over 20 years ago and now more than ever, we all must band together to dismantle the health disparities men— especially BIPOC and economically disadvantaged men— face when receiving healthcare.

During the Summit, we explored strategies to advance men’s health, raise awareness about why it is important to engage with men to improve their health and well-being, and provide health education resources and access to care. Also, we celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of our Men’s Health Champions who tirelessly fight for equity and social justice in the communities we serve.

We must remain United in addressing Men’s Health and Grounded in Equity.
