Pediatrics/Adolescent Health

Whittier Street Health Center is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered health care to newborns, children, and adolescents in our community.  The Pediatrics and Adolescent Health department’s care team consists of Pediatricians Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, Family Medicine Physicians and Nurse Practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, case managers, social workers, and other professionals.  Our staff speaks several different languages and we aim to provide culturally competent care to all of our patients.

Whittier Street Health Center Pediatric and Adolescent Health Services available include:

  • Routine well visits to monitor growth and development.
  • Same-day sick visits.
  • Extended hours, including evening and weekend appointments and on-call availability to provide advice and care 24 hours a day, 7 day a week.
  • Immunizations.
  • Reach Out and Read Program, every child gets a book at every well visit from ages 6 months to 6 years old.
  • Hearing and vision screening.
  • Fluoride varnish.
  • Early Intervention screenings to assess for developmental delays in children less than 3 years old.
  • Extensive asthma education and case management.
  • Obesity services.
  • CenteringParentingTM program.
  • Rainbow Clinic for children with complex medical needs.
  • Confidential Adolescent health services, including Family Planning counseling.

A note about Whittier and COVID-19

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in our area, we ask all clients and patients to call ahead before coming to any of our sites. We are working to take care of most clients/patients via phone/video encounter so we can meet your ongoing healthcare needs. This is for your safety and so we can provide the highest quality of care to you while following CDC guidance for COVID-19. Please call 617-427-1000 for any questions or concerns.

Whittier will provide COVID-19 testing from 10 am to 4 pm on Monday to Friday. Following CDC guidance, we recommend testing if you have a fever AND one of the following three symptoms: cough OR shortness of breath OR sore throat. Please bring your picture identification and your insurance card (if you have insurance).
