2014 Gospel Concert: City Line Interview with President and CEO Frederica M. Williams

  • November 17, 2014

In case you missed it, follow the link to watch Whittier’s President and CEO Frederica M. Williams on WCVB’s City Line, which aired this past Sunday, November 16, 2014. Ms. Williams discussed the upcoming 2014 Gospel Concert: Saving the Health of the Community, where we will be honoring Governor Deval L. Patrick and Debra Miller, Chair of Whittier’s Community Board of Directors. The evening will feature twelve performers, as we celebrate the health and wellness of our community.

Each year, Whittier’s Saving the Health of the Community Gospel Concert brings special awareness to important health issues in our community. From asthma to diabetes, to heart disease, and HIV/AIDS, the communities that Whittier serves face significant disparities in health outcomes. This concert directly benefits essential health and social programs at Whittier Street Health Center that improve the health and well-being of families within our community. Integral to improving health is recognizing the social and environmental factors that contribute to our wellness. Education, poverty, our social networks and the environment in which we live all impact our health. In fact, these account for approximately 80% of one’s health. Our medical philosophy at Whittier is to truly improve one’s health, we also must address other influences outside of the standard medical practice. Our programs are designed to treat the whole person, beyond physical ailments, to ensure continued and prolonged health.
