Whittier Street Health Center Presented Prestigious Community Health Quality Recognition Awards

  • February 5, 2024

We are proud to announce that Whittier Street Health Center (WSHC) has been honored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration with three 2023 Community Health Quality Recognition (CHQR) awards: the 2023 Advancing Health Information Technology (HIT) for Quality badge, the 2023 Addressing Social Risk Factors badge, and the 2023 COVID-19 Public Health Champion badge. WSHC was also recognized as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) in 2023 by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

These CHQR badges highlight particularly notable areas of excellence and improvement at WSHC. The 2023 COVID-19 Public Health Champion badge recognizes WSHC as being in the top 10% of health centers providing COVID-19 vaccinations or testing to a large percentage of patients. The 2023 Addressing Social Risk Factors badge recognizes WSHC’s commitment to collecting data on patient social risk factors, and our achievement in increasing the percentage of patients who received social services between the last two years. The 2023 Advancing HIT for Quality badge recognizes WSHC’s sustained effort to utilize technology to provide the best possible service for our patients.

WSHC’s President and CEO, Frederica M. Williams, commented: “As a Joint Commission accredited and NCQA recognized PCMH, Whittier’s dedicated team consistently strives to implement the very best evidence-based practices and initiatives as part of our comprehensive health care services, ensuring that we provide exceptional quality of care for our diverse patients. These CHQR awards serve as testament to our sustained commitment to improving the health and well-being of our community and addressing health disparities.”

Thank you for being a part of our mission: to serve as a center of excellence that provides high-quality, and accessible health care and social services that achieve health equity, social justice, and the economic well-being of our diverse populations.
