Sponsored by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), National Health Center Week (NHCW) is celebrated every August, and serves as a nationwide opportunity to spotlight the vital role, impact and steadfast dedication of the 1,512 community health centers (CHCs) across this country delivering high-quality patient care to an estimated 52 million patients in more than 17,000 communities.

This annual observance not only honors the patients who rely on CNCs but also all those whose dedication fuel their mission.

As we recognize 2026 NHCW from August 2-8, we are reminded of the collective strength that defines this country’s community health centers – the patients who entrust us with their care; the clinicians and providers whose commitment shapes every aspect of patient well-being; the leadership team whose guidance and direction sets benchmarks of excellence; the board members whose oversight advances equitable community health; the administrative staff who ensure that appointments are made, schedules are maintained, and patients are treated with respect from the moment they enter our doors; and the partners, supporters, and advocates who champion our work.

This shared strength is the foundation upon which Whittier Street Health Center embodies the 2026 National Health Center Week theme, Building Innovative Care Where It Matters Most – by innovating care delivery both inside our health center and throughout the communities we serve.

Our integrated one-stop care offers primary care, walk-in services, behavioral health, oral, eyecare, and social supports under one roof at our main Tremont Street location. Our Blue Hill satellite clinic expands our reach, allowing us to deliver care directly within another high-need neighborhood. Our mobile van outreach further underscores a dedication to providing direct care beyond clinic walls. Our programs, summits, screening and testing initiatives embody our responsiveness to health priorities.

Through these unified services, community-rooted programs, and responsive outreach efforts, Whittier Street Health Center affirms its commitment to innovating care where it matters most and advancing health equity across the communities we proudly serve.
